Counseling for Young Women | Twin Cities
I love working with ambitious young women who are eager to improve themselves and their lives. These are young women who have been successful in their lives, maybe describing themselves as perfectionists. As a counselor, I work with women who desire to know themselves more fully, gain a sense of clarity, and want to live their lives from a place of abundance. In short- women who want to feel calm, confident, and courageous.
According to the American Psychological Association, millennials are the most stressed out generation. Makes sense, doesn't it? Today's young adults grew up in a post-9/11 world, have been perhaps overly connected with the rise of social media and 24/7 cable news, have more student loan debt than ever before, and are facing the pressures of balancing career ambitions and family plans.
Everyone experiences stress and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Stress can motivate us and help us to reach our goals. Anxiety, however, can be paralyzing. Anxiety can cause you to doubt yourself, your decisions, and your relationships. It can take over your life and prevent you from doing what you want- and need- to do. If anxiety, self-doubt, or perfectionism have gotten in your way, consider starting the brave work of counseling.
I approach counseling from a cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based perspective. This means we will pay close attention to how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors impact each other. You'll learn how to restructure your thoughts, how to more easily let things go, and how to have compassion toward yourself. We will spend time processing the past and managing the present. We will create strategies to help you reach your goals for the future. You can live the life you want, and counseling can help you get there.
